Trauma Assessment and Counseling
Lulu is one of a handful in the country Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress from the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, New York (AAETS) and has Diplomate status in the same as well at the National Center for Crisis Management, New York (NCCM). She is also listed in the International Registry of Expert Witness in the above international organizations. Lulu is also one of the few advanced Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist in the country. She was one of the pioneers and subsequently sat as Director/ Consultant of the UST Graduate School Psychotrauma Clinic. During her Three (3) year term the clinic garnered yearly award for excellent community service and ultimately bagged the Hall of Fame Award during the university faculty recognition celebration “Dangal Ng UST Awards”.
Lulu is an Associate Professor at the Graduate School of UST and St. Scholastica’s College, where she teaches in the Masteral and Doctoral programs, Psychology and Guidance and Counseling clusters. She earned her PHD from UST and MA from Ateneo De Manila University, and Professional Diploma (PD) from the Center for Family Ministries (CeFam). She also holds a certification as an Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist (ADS).She is a registered guidance counselor.
Lulu was elected Board Member of EMDRASIA in the 1st EMDR ASIAN Conference held in Bali, Indonesia. She is one of the pillars in psychotrauma work in the country and a founding member and Program Coordinator of the Porta Coeli Center for Pastoral Counseling and Psychotrauma Management. St. Scholastica’s College graduate school HOPECCC (Haven for Optimum Psychospiritual Empowerment Center for Community Counseling) which was her brainchild and currently serves as its Consultant and Case Manager. She is a consultant/trainer for some NGOs for sexually abused children all over the country, also to various school creating and implementing programs in addressing bullying, parenting styles, teacher trainings for mental health awareness of their students a preventive strategy to spot students with psychological issues that may lead to anxiety, depression and even suicide. Recently pioneered an advocacy for training parents and teachers to manage and handle children/students with special needs.
Lulu is the President of EMDRPHILIPPINES, a position she holds since 2011. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), recently recognized by WHO as most effective for PTSD and the like. An ADVANCED EMDR Therapist, she has promoted and brought EMDR trainings in the country since 2006 and from the original number of four (4), now has more than a hundred trained and growing. She has been the lead debriefer and EMDR therapist for victims of various traumatic events – to mention some, glorietta bombing, serendra tragedy, zamboanga siege, marawi and many more…
As a recent Cancer survivor, she is now conducting workshops for others afflicted with the same, along with their family members and caregivers, goal of which is to better understand, cope, accept and develop self-efficacy and grit towards positivity for a new mindset and make their Cancer journey meaningful for them and others. This is her simple way of paying it forward for her new lease in life. To God be the glory!
