PFA AND OTHER INTERVENTIONS FOR ADOLESCENTS WITH MENTAL HEALTH CONCERNS
|The inevitability of natural calamities, the threat of man-made tragedies and disasters, the reality of stress brought about by day-to-day demands, adversities and challenges from many sources either strengthen or weaken the weary soul of youths in schools. Mental health promotion and maintenance has become a priority during crises, emergency situations and even the grinds of daily life. Both preventive, curative and therapeutic, creative interventions challenge every counselor to level up his competencies to be more responsive and relevant. Psychological-First-Aid (PFA), Psychosocial activities and other helping strategies when effectively utilized ensure support to teenagers with mental health concerns. The workshop aims to deepen understanding of the complexity of depression and presents strategies to mitigate mental health issues severe enough to cause significant distress and psychological impairments. Help is here with the implementation of the Mental Health Law (RA 11036).|
