Utilizing Psychometric Assessment Data for K-12

Maria Angeles Lapena taught at the De La Salle University, where she headed the DLSU College of Liberal Arts' Laboratoryo ng Pananaliksik sa Sikolohiya (1997-May 2004) and was the Chair of the Psychology Department (1994-1996 and 2007-2009) and the Behavioral Sciences Department (1986-1990). Before teaching at DLSU, she was connected with the Foreign Service Institute of the Department of Foreign Affairs, and also taught at the Ateneo de Manila University and the University of the Philippines.
The academe has been Prof. Lapena's base, which she joined after earning her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (cum laude) at the University of the Philippines. She also holds a masteral degree in psychology from the State University and is in the final phase of course work towards her doctorate (Ph.D.) in Counseling Psychology at the De La Salle University. Her field of expertise is in psychometrics and social science methodologies, and her name is linked with the Panukat ng Ugali at Pagkatao, a Filipino personality test developed by a team of psychologists led by the late Dr. Virgilio G. Enriquez, and the Pambansang Samahan sa Sikolohiyang Pilipino, a national organization of Filipino social scientists.
At present, she serves on the boards of the Philippine Psychology Research & Training House (PPRTH), QSense, Performance Solutions Advocates, and SOS Children's Villages Philippines. She is also the immediate past president of the Pambansang Samahan sa Sikolohiyang Pilipino. Prof. Lapena has a number of published (and unpublished) work and is a frequent speaker on her fields of expertise: survey research, training and evaluation, evaluation research, Filipino personality research and assessment, cognitive and affective test development, social science research methodologies, and test construction.
