Dr. Carmelita P. Pabiton is a Registered Guidance Counselor, member of the Professional Regulatory Board of Guidance and Counseling (PRBGC) of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), Manila and member of the CHED Technical Committee for Guidance and Counseling. She was a full-time faculty member of the Counseling and Educational Psychology Department of De La Salle University- Manila. During her stay at the DLSU-Manila, she also served as the Dean of Student Affairs, Director of the Undergraduate Program of the College of Education, Director of the Center of Counseling and Development Center and Chair of the Counseling and Educational Psychology Department and a visiting lecturer of the DLSU-Manila Graduate School Extension program in Malaysia and Indonesia. She also worked as the Grade School Guidance Coordinator of the College of the Holy Spirit in Mendiola, Manila and Grade School HRD Guidance Counselor and Coordinator of the La Salle Green Hills.
She obtained her Doctor of Education and Master of Education in Guidance from the University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City. Her special trainings include Counseling, Program Development, Assessment, Parenting and Human Resource Training.
She is a life time member of the Psychological and Educational Counselors of Asia-Pacific (APECA), Philippine Association for Counselor Education, Research and Supervision (PACERS), Philippine Guidance and Counseling Association(PGCA), Phi Lambda Theta and Pi Gamma Mu International Honor Society, Chi Sigma Iota, Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society International, University of the Philippines-Diliman, Alpha Sigma Omega Chapter, and was also an active board officer of the PGCA and PACERS. She was a holder of the Kiyoshi Osawa-Japan Distinguished Professorial Chair in Guidance and Counseling in 1998 to 2000, the Br. Felix Sheehan, FSC Distinguished Professorial chair in Guidance and Counseling in 2001-2005, and Dr. Pao Shih Tien Professorial Chair in Organizational Development in 2006-2007. As a member of the Professional Regulatory Board of Guidance and Counseling and the Program Manager of the PRC Career Guidance Advocacy Program Committee, she was sent to Turin, Italy to participate in the training program jointly sponsored by the International Labor Organization's International Training Center (ITC-ILO) and the European Training Foundation (ETF) on "Career Guidance: A strategic Tool for planners and decision-makers" from April 7-11, 2014.
She has devoted much of her time in promoting the cause of guidance and counseling and student affairs and services through involvement in professional organizations, research projects and publications on counselor education, counselor supervision, school counseling and paper presentations in both the local and international conferences and conventions, administrative work, teaching in the graduate school, and participation in various community outreach activities.
She is married to a Civil Engineer and has 2 sons who are both professionals.
